Sylvan is actually one of the best languages to grab, since most Fey can be talked out of combat. You also get to talk with a non-insignificant percentage of Elves. Most Fey learn Sylvan, so you get to talk with almost all Fey creatures. The language of Sylvan is the language of the Fey. This ability doesn’t grant you any special friendship with beasts, though you can combine this ability with gifts to curry favor with them as you would with any nonplayer character. Most beasts lack the intelligence to convey or understand sophisticated concepts, but a friendly beast could relay what it has seen or heard in the recent past. In addition, beasts can understand your speech, and you gain the ability to decipher their noises and motions. You learn to speak, read, and write Sylvan. To start, you get a wonderfully flavorful ability at level 2, when you take the circle. The Shepherd Circle does have other support abilities to help your allies, but those abilities are only once per rest.
